| Directions To High Frontier From Midland/Odessa Airport Exit the Midland Airport. At the stop sign, go left. This road (I think is 1788) will take you to I-20. You will see I-20 Business first. DO NOT TAKE I-20 Business. You will see I-20 after you go over the hill. The exit is on the right. It will curve left, then right to enter the interstate. Take I-20 West to Pecos (approximately 80 miles). You will go past Odessa and Monahans. Exit on Highway 17 South. The sign reads Fort Davis/Balmorhea. There is not much in this stretch of the trip. It is about 50 miles. This will lead you to I-10. When you reach I-10, you will have a choice: you can get on I-10 or stay on the frontage road. Take the Hwy. 17 exit to Balmorhea/Ft. Davis. Go left. This will lead you through Balmorhea and out of town. (Dont blink-it's small!) On the west side outskirts of Balmorhea, you will pass a large natural spring pool (Balmorhea State Park). After the park you will see a sign for Ft. Davis. Go left towards Ft. Davis. This is still Hwy 17. The sign also reads University of Texas-McDonald Observatory. Take Hwy 17 for approximately 45 miles. You will pass a Boy Scout Camp and Wild Rose Pass. When you come to Ft. Davis you will come to a stop sign. Go left on Hwy 118 that takes you into the town of Ft. Davis. |
